What made Michael Jackson such a target for tabloids, lawsuits and individuals of less than stellar character?

Why didn't Michael Jackson fight back if he was so innocent and misunderstood? Who was he, really? Why was he the most persecuted artist in history?

Whatever else Michael Jackson may be known for, he was above all else, a human being.

In July of 2009, right after Independence Day, I began my journey to get to know this man. What began as a rebuttal to a derogatory comment about him made on my facebook page, turned into a mission and a life lesson I will never forget. I may not have been one of his biggest fans, but I am most certainly one of his staunchest allies.

Michael was the victim of everything that is going wrong in our world. He was the poster boy of the victim of every sin we commit against our own. Michael Jackson's fate was proof that we are losing our humanity. He tried to teach us to love one another. We repaid him by using that love to try to destroy him. Every one of us is complicit in what happened to him . . . because we not only allowed it to happen, we fed the media who perpetrated it.

Since the days of the throwing the Christians to the lions, we are still entertained by the taking down of another human being. Why? All Michael Jackson tried to do was spread a message of learning to treat each other better . . . and this is what he got for it.

Since June 25, 2009, I took the time to get to know who this man was. He taught me many things during this journey to get to know Michael as a person. He was so much bigger than his music. He was the example of how we should conduct ourselves toward each other. His music brought him in front of millions . . . however, his message was his real purpose.

I know of no other way to repay him other than to defend him. It is still going on. There is an investigation that seems to have stagnated. There is silence from the press. The media was obviously more interested in raping him of his privacy during his trials then they are in searching for answers about his murder.

The best way to defend Michael is with the truth that the media and the press seem incapable of granting him despite the millions his name made for them.

Once you learn more about Michael and who he was, the lyrics to his songs take on a whole new meaning. Did he see this coming? Were his songs prophecy as much as they were his present day life?

The greatest entertainer in the world had so much more to teach us. His life is a testimony we should follow, lest we allow another human being to fall in the name of the almighty dollar.

Michael was taken from us, from his children and those children all over the world that he fought for. He was taken from his family, friends and his own childhood . . . twice.

Michael's only crime was his innocence in just how evil people could be. His saving grace was the undeniable love he had for people, despite what most tried to do to him.
